Golden milk
It’s such a beautiful, easy, and delicious introduction to the ancient philosophy of Ayurveda. A taste-bud-tingling alternative to coffee, this comforting drink is perfect for any time of day.” —Jasmine Hemsley
I’m always on the lookout for coffee alternatives and anything that can be a beautiful addition to any rituals that I have. I love to have a Golden Milk just before bed but it’s also a great pick me up in the afternoon.
Ingredients
1 cup organic whole milk (preferably unhomogenized) or almond, oat, coconut, hemp milk, etc.
½ cup water
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground turmeric
2 to 3 cardamom pods, cracked, or ⅛ teaspoon ground cardamom
pinch of ground nutmeg
a good grind of black pepper
Add all of the ingredients to a pot and give it a nice gently whisk.
Using a medium heat (careful to keep stirring so that nothing burns) and bring to a boil.
Once your mixture is bubbling then turn down the heat and leave warming for an additional 10 mins.
Allow it to cool just a touch, strain and then serve.
As a little extra ‘voom’ then use a frother for a velvety brew.
